Curatorial Rationale

Rationale

Regarding the works I have completed until now, I personally prefer to use objects, materials that can be touched in reality, to create art. In the process of creation and exploration of the art, I gradually found a theme and theme that belonged to me, such as "The object itself has no meaning. It is given meaning and value when human beings use it. However, when human beings no longer exist, those objects will still exist and prove that their users have existed before." Through this theme, I will be more in line with the artistic creation methods and media that I have chosen. The selection of the "objects" used in my work will also be clearer and more meaningful.

In my personal experience and growth process, two artists have influenced me a lot. One is the Chinese artist Cai Guo Qiang. I was shocked by his works of fireworks and gunpowder. It was a very good interpretation and expression of fleeting beauty, and from it I also gave birth to the beauty that I understand, that is Let the fleeting things become "eternal" beauty. The second one is the Russian artist, Mark Rothko. His use and expression of color shocked me very much. If I had the opportunity, I was very much like standing in front of his work and admiring it. Among them, I like his expression of death and existence very much, and learned how to express the first-person perspective with colors. In addition, I am still a very nostalgic person. I have a lot of old things in my house, which I am not willing to throw it away.

For all my works, the most important point that connects them is the exploration and discussion of the relationship between "people" and "things (object)". The purpose behind all the art works is to "awaken" or "inspire" people's attention to the beautiful things around them and use these objects and things to link the past, present and future.

When I finally exhibit, I hope that the audience can give up their thoughts after seeing my work. I want every audience to be the same person before my work, and then through the work to recall the bits and pieces of their experiences. Therefore, the place where I want to show my work will be empty, clean, and without any distractions for the audience, just like a room without color or pure white and pure black. Then I will set up my works in different places in this room as much as possible so that they can share the same environment without affecting other works. There will be a dark room for the works with light and a room with pure white light for the works without light. There may be only a door between the two rooms. This is the environment and emotions that I hope my works will create when they are exhibited, because I think that instead of letting the audience actively observe the details of a work, letting them immerse themselves in the environment to observe the work is the best feel the emotion from the works.
